🌿 About Our Founder

Hi, I’m Breanne, the founder of Second Nature and a proud mom of two little ones who sometimes seem more into fashion than I am. I grew up in Toronto and now live in Hamilton, where you’ll often find me either chasing after my kids, scouring thrift shops for hidden gems, or tending to my garden.

I’ve always had a passion for secondhand. Before becoming a mom, I spent years traveling the world collecting unique treasures to fill my home. Once my children came along, that same love naturally shifted to children’s clothing. What really sparked the idea for Second Nature was noticing how often parents around me struggled to find secondhand clothing they loved. For me, thrifting was second nature — but I realized not every family had the time, patience, or access to good thrift shops.

Some parents defaulted to buying new online out of necessity and often didn’t love what arrived. On the flip side, trying to win a coveted piece on a resale page could feel harder than winning the lottery, and not everyone wanted to spend their evenings refreshing listings just for a pair of jeans. That’s when it clicked: families wanted to make the sustainable shift, but they needed an easier way, with clothing delivered right to their doorstep.

At the heart of Second Nature is my belief that style, sustainability, and convenience can go hand in hand. Every box we send keeps clothing out of landfills and gives each piece a well-deserved second life, while helping parents feel confident that their children are well dressed and ready for the season ahead. My husband and I joke about my “start the car!” thrifting moments (yes, like the Ikea commercial), that rush of joy when you’ve found something truly special. That joy is what I bring into every box we curate, knowing another family will get to experience it too.

What started as a personal passion quickly became something bigger thanks to the encouragement of friends and family who saw how much I loved thrifting for my kids and how naturally it came to me. Friends began asking me to style their children or even thrift on their behalf, and it became clear there was a real need for a service like this. Their support gave me the push to turn my passion into Second Nature, so more families could experience the joy of stylish, sustainable clothing without the stress.
